I am back on the road with the all new 136th edition of Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus! This is the biggest change to the circus in over 50 years and has to be seen to be believed! Check my tour schedule at www.ringling.com

I spent all of March'05 and April'05 in the western Caribbean playing for  Norwegian Cruise Lines Show Band. I toured Alaska and Canada with them in June'05 and July'05. Great gig, lots of sight reading!

I performed with Victor Wooten and Anthony Wellington on the Soul Circus tour at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois on May 29th 2005! It was a great experience!! Victor and the  band really made me feel comfortable, I even chilled on the tour bus! Thanks Victor!  Check out the Pictures Here. My friend Anthony Wellington is in the June issue of Bass player magazine as well as the rest of the Victor Wooten band.

Michael T Brown

Is a veteran bassist from Chicago who started playing bass at age twelve and was in his first working band by age fourteen. He has since performed all over the U.S. ,Canada and the Caribbean.

Starting on percussion (bongos at age 8) Mike made the move to bass after experiencing the bass guitar at a relative's house. He than began to experiment with his sister's acoustic guitar tuning it down to the lower register. Michael was self taught until he got to high school and joined the orchestra with fellow bass players Marcus Robson (Chaka Khan, Bernie Mac) and Darryl Jones (Miles Davis, Sting, Rolling Stones) and began to study upright and electric bass eventually becoming the first chair bassist and section leader for the upright bass section.

He credits bass players such as Bernard Edwards, Ray Brown , Bootsy Collins, James Jamerson, Jaco Pastorious, Louis Johnson, Mark King, Marcus Miller, Gerald Veasley, Garry Willis, Adam Nitti, Bakithi Kumalo, Anthony Wellington, Christian McBride and Victor Wooten as major influences in his playing. He has played with various bands and artists covering all types of music including Country, Jazz Fusion, Rock, Blues, Folk, Classical and Funk appearing on Television, Theme parks, Cruise ships and at major festivals.

About his philosophy on the Bass and his role as a Bass player he says, "I have chops and that is fine but  you have to respect and serve the music first. Bass is a foundation instrument so lay that first and keep it solid. One of my best experiences was having Victor Wooten walk into the room while I was demonstrating a groove and have him give me the high sign.  Michael plays Four and Five string electric basses and The N.S. Design (Ned Steinberger) Five string electric upright bass.
